"The words from the book rang so clear and true in my heart and it hurt. Is my foundation truly in God? If He is truly where my help comes from, then why am I despairing? And an even harder truth - that maybe this move, this new start, this new town, wasn't really about me. What if God didn't bring me here for my comfort, my personal happiness? What if He brought me here solely for His glory? To do a new work in me, to prune me, so that ultimately He may be glorified through me?"
I can make a choice to give up and fold or I can make the choice to stand and do what will bring God glory... cause isn't that the point?!
I know that I have been put in the situations that I have been put in recently for a specific reason. The Lord is teaching me that it's not about me, it's about him & how to handle conflict. In learning how to handle conflict, I am able to better glorify Him.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of Godwithout fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
This scripture tells me that I need to set myself apart by being positive in my daily life & in turn, Iwill be able to boast about Christ without blemish.

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
This is one of my favorite scriptures, even though it is convicting to me. It tells me to be worry-free. We can do this by choosing to rejoice, submitting to requests to God... without taking them back, and to be thankful for everything. When we are thankful, give our worries to him, and choose to rejoice, we will have God's peace. Our minds will be free of worry & unhappiness and will be in the right mindset- God's mindset.

I love that you included that verse about grumbling. I spent two weeks teaching a bible lesson focused on being grumble-free to my little second graders. They loved it and it has actually made me more aware of when I grumble or complain. Amen to being thankful for everything God gives us--the good and the not so good.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! It's funny how sometimes we need to hear it as much as they do :)
